The Legend of the Golden Princess Prologue and Chapter 1

Prologue

In the land of Roheka, down under a deep cavern unknown to most; there were the wisest creatures in all the land. The wisest of all the wisest was an old unicorn named Pelarna. Now we shall hear what he had to say. ”Now hear me all ye creatures. We shall speak of the princess.” 

“How are we to get her back, Pelarna?” Said Fliment, A centaur. 

Pelarna replied, ”She will be coming of the age where her Guardians shall be bringing her back, unless…” 

“Unless what, Pelarna?” said a griffin. 

”We shall not speak of that now, but I tell you they will get here. I am certain of that.”

Meanwhile in Midwest Missouri …

In Missouri lived a beautiful girl of age 15 whose name was Lialie, Lily for short. She had shiny golden hair, lived on a farm, and owned the most beautiful horse in the world. He was called Diamond. He was a silky white horse, with a bright silver mane, and his eyes were hazel. If you looked at him in the sun the glare of his coat hurt your eyes so much that you would be blinded for a minute or two when you looked away. 

Here begins our story. One evening, Lily went for a ride on Diamond in the forest. When it began to get darker, Lily noticed that Diamond’s forehead was glowing, and that his eyes were not hazel anymore but were periwinkle! Diamond kept on walking, and a few minutes later, they ended up beside a willow tree with rainbow colored leaves. Then Diamond walked straight toward the tree. 

“Oh no! He’s going to run into the tree, Stop Diamond!” She tried pulling on the reins but he wouldn't stop. So she jumped off. But right at the last moment possible, he stops right with his forehead against the trunk of the willow. A few minutes later (or it may have been only a few seconds) he pulled his head from the trunk of the tree, and a horn came with it. Diamond is a unicorn! He turns around and cries 

“Princess Lialie! I am a unicorn again!” 

Lialie says, ”What do you mean?”  

Diamond replies, “Let's go back to the house and we will explain it all to you.“ He lets Lialie climb on his back, and then he gallops back to the farm. 

When Lialie returned to the farm, her ‘Mother’ ran out and exclaimed “Diamond! You’re a unicorn again!” With that she fainted.  

Chapter 1 The Crowned Origin

Later, after she had woken; Lialie went to find ‘father’. She found him in the stable, cleaning out one of the horse stalls. Lialie says “Father, look at Diamond.“ 

He says “Got him all muddy did you. Well, you are cleaning him off this time.” 

“No, not that . Just look at him.” Then he comes out of the stable and exclaims 

“You are a unicorn. Praise the high Heavens! You're a unicorn again. Well let's go  get ready for dinner.” Before they began eating, ‘mother’ and ‘father’ try to explain her story. 

“Well,“ says ‘dad’ “First of all we are not your real parents, your parents are the King and Queen of Roheka.“ 

“Where is that?” Says Lialie. ’Mom’ says 

“We will explain all of that in due time. First of all you may stop calling us Father and Mother, and may call us our real names. You can call me Ana, but my name is Anastasia.” 

“And my name is Francios, but you may call me Fran. Now we shall begin your tale.“

“In the land of Roheka, there is a war going on. The evil was  all started by a man named Thurus, and he started the war because he wants the land of Roheka for his own. But the King, your Father wouldn’t give it to him. So he gathered all of the men in his land and laid a siege on his castle. But then.“  

“This is where you come in.” Fran excitedly interrupted.  ”But then, you were born and your parents wanted to keep you safe. So they sent you away.“ ”And now you are probably wondering how they got you out of the castle. Well, they sent you, and us out of the castle by using a griffin that carried Diamond, and a pegasus, at night. And we got out safely. That’s how we got here.”  

Lialie says ”That is not all of the story! How did we end up here in Missouri?“ 

“We got to the wise, and they told us where you would be safe.“ Said Fran. Ana says 

“They told us to get the portal between worlds, and to come here to keep you safe. Then a Wise old lady fox put a spell on your unicorn so that when Roheka needed you he would become a unicorn again. And then we set off for the portal, and found it then came here. Now that’s the end of that tale.“ Then Lialie looked the clock and said 

“Should we eat and go to bed so we can get an early start tomorrow?” Ana says “That is a good idea, Princess. Let us eat.“ Then after they ate Lialie gave them good night hugs and said, ”Thank you for keeping me safe. Good night.” 

The next morning, Lialie wakes up to bright sunshine and a unicorn sticking his head through her window. 

“Good morning, Princess. I trust you slept well.”  Lialie replies “Yes, thank you Diamond. How was a night as a unicorn again? Good, I hope.” 

“Yes, little princess.“ He says. Then there is a knock at her door, “May I come to Princess Lialie?” It is Ana. Lialie says “Yes, you can Ana “ Ana comes in and Lialie gasps,

”Whoa, where did that outfit come from?”  

Ana replies,“Can’t you tell, little Princess? This is Roheken clothing.“  

Lialie says “I never would have guessed. It is so beautiful! Do I have any?”   

“You did. Sadly you grew out of them.“ Then Fran walks into the room “ Hello, Princess.“ 

Then Diamond says “When do we get to eat ? I’m hungry.” Then Lialie says “ Yes, what is for breakfast? “

Ana replies “Princess Lialie, you must practice your manners!” “Okay, Please, tell me what we are having for breakfast Ana.” Much better.“ Then Fran says “After breakfast we shall get to business. Such as getting back to Roheka.“ “Fran, are you going to get your sword out? You know, the nice shiny one“ Ana said. Fran says  “Technically all swords are shiny lady Ana, and I shall get out my sword. Let's go get breakfast first.”

After a breakfast of fresh eggs, bacon and toast;  Fran gets up to get his sword. Ana says to Lialie and Diamond 

“The journey we take will not be safe, and we will need to pack plenty of food. I am sure it will not be easy to find food during the war.” Then Fran comes back into the room with a sword sheath and says,

”Lialie, this sword came from your father, and it has come to save many soldiers in the war and plenty of other fights.” ”How are we going to get back to Roheka exactly?” Lialie says . “Well, for one: We will have to get back to the Rainbow Willow at twilight. The only time the magic of the Willow works is at twilight, or dawn.” says Fran. “Two: And from the way it sounded last night, We should probably go to the Willow tomorrow evening so that we can get ready today and not be late for the portal. The main problem is going to be getting back to your parents castle, without being captured by Thurus’s soldiers. Well, we should start packing food and other essentials. Then tomorrow afternoon we will saddle up the horses.” Then they started packing. Lialie went to groom the horses. Dancing star, Flash, and Constancy. Dancing star is a black horse with white speckles all over, Flash is a brown horse with black mane and has a white lighting stripe on his muzzle, and Constancy is the pack horse; and is a dappled gray horse. While she was grooming them she dreamed of being a princess, and wondered what her parents looked like . When suddenly there was a crash on the roof of the stables and a voice saying 

“Ach! Why did you do that, Grabroro?”  

Then a screeching voice said “Because I believe this is where they live, you silly.” 

The other voice says ”Are we going to talk with Franc and Ann, now or later?” 

A screeching reply came ”Now, or I will drop onto their house and leave you there. You would like that wouldn't you?”

“Most absolutely not, thank you! Well, let's get it over with and get back to Roheka.” It was total happiness when she heard the name Roheka! But she was not sure what army they came from so she didn’t move. But then a thought came to her. How do they know their names if they are not in the King’s army? But then a new voice cried 

“Hurry up already. Men…Always fighting, especially during the wars. Let’s go talk to them, I want to get back to Roheka soon.” 

Then the first voice says ”If we must…” Then Lialie hears some thuds as they jumped to the ground. She can’t decide what to do, should she go to the house and be with Fran and Ana. Or stay here until they call her to come inside. She then decided to stay in the stable because they said they wanted to talk to Fran and Ana. So she stayed in the stable brushing and combing the horse until she heard a voice say 

“Lialie! Come inside please!” So she put up the combs and started walking towards the house. When she walked into the room that they were all in, she saw an elf, a griffin, and a soldier. Then the soldier said,

 “Princess, Pelarna sent me here to fetch you, because Roheka is in need of your help.“  

Lialie says “Who is Pelarna?”  

Then the elf says “Pelarna is a gray unicorn, one of the last of his kind. He is the leader of all of the wise who live under the great mountain.” Lialie then realizes that the elf is the lady that she heard on the barn. 

”How did you get here? It is not dawn, nor twilight!” Fran asks. ”Well, our tale is not an easy one to be told, but we shall tell it later. First we have come to talk with you four.” Said the griffin. ”But we have yet to get introduced to you. My name is Grabroro, and I am a golden griffin.“ 

“My name is Benard, and  I have served your father for about as long as you have been alive. I joined his army when Lord Franc and Lady Ana had to bring you here.” The elf then says ”I am Hvin, And I have been in the Council of the Wise for 37 years. We have come to be all of your personal guardians on the road back to Roheka.“  Lialie asks “What dangers are there on the way back to Roheka, besides enemy soldier’s?” Benard says ”There are some of the dragons, who especially like to capture girls or princesses. And also there are plenty wicked wizards who would love to get some royal ransom money from your parents.” 

“What are my parents' names?” asks Lialie 

“Your royal father’s name is Finn, and your mother’s Josephine.” 

Lialie sighs and says,”I can’t wait to see them. How long will the journey take to get to the castle?” 

Hvin the elf says ”About a month or so. It really depends on what happens during the journey.” 

“Well, there are multiple people, and places that she should see. Right?“ Ana says. 

“Hmm… I suppose so. She might not come out of the castle for a while once we get there. Yes, we shall stop at the Dens, and at the Council of the wise. They shall want to see this princess that they have longed for, for a while now…” said Hvin. She thought over this for a moment then added,

”What shall we have for eat? We haven't eaten since yesterday morning.“ 

Fran says “Well, we have been busy all morning and have not prepared anything yet. But I am sure we have some dry goods in the pantry.Let me go check.” When he was out of the room, Lialie asks the griffin”How did you get to be called Grabroro?” Grabroro says “My mother could not decide on a name for me , but then one day she heard a dog howl ‘graabroroooo!’ and decided she liked how it sounded and named me that.” 

Hvin tells him ”You tell it differently every time.“ 

He screeches back ”So maybe I do, it is practically the way it happened.” Just then Fran comes back into the room and announces “Lunch is served! Meat jerky, bread and jam, stale crackers, water, and I saved the best for last. Canned fruit!”  Grabroro asks “What! no fish!!“  Hvin tells him “This is not the castle you can go fishing in the creek in Rainbow woods.” Grabroro sighs and says “I wish I was in the palace. They serve me fish until I feel like I am going to burst. Oh well…I might as well go fishing. See you later.” And he walks out of the house and Lialie can hear him flap his wings and fly away. Then she says “Hvin, is the siege on the castle still going on?“  Hvin says “No. It stopped about 9 years ago, but the war was still going so your parents could not bring you back. Thurus is meaner than ever and is threatening to take over the Dens, which would be very terrible indeed.” 

 “Hmm…What is at the dens? Dragons?Soldiers?” Lialie asks. “No, foxes and wolves.” 

“Foxes and Wolves?”  

“Yes, foxes and wolves. Foxes are so sly that the King has asked Governor Lotor to use some of his vixens, dogs(male foxes), as spies; and to use his she-wolves and he-wolves as fighters.The spies have worked so good, Thurus probably is going crazy about how we know all their plans to attack.The wolves are amazing fighters. Killed and captured many of his soldiers.”  Benard says. “That is a good thing. When did King Finn ask the Governor to use the foxes and wolves?” Fran asks. Benard replies “About 4 years ago.” Then a moment later Lialie says, ”When are we going to leave? I assume our plans will be delayed because they are here?” 

Ana says “Hmm… Good question . Fran?” 

“We will be delayed probably by a day or so. We should start packing the rest of everything we need.”

  Hvin agrees, “Yes, I will help you pack.” 

Benard says “I will go take care of your horses. Lialie, will you come help me?“ She jumps up and says “Yes, please!” Then Lialie and Benard walked out the door.

Later that night, Fran tells Lialie “We will be ready to leave tomorrow evening.” Then he sighs. 

“What?” Lialie asks. 

“Well, to be honest I don’t want to go back until the war is over. But if Rohekan people want you back I guess they will get you.” 

“It’s not as bad as that, is it Fran?” She says 

“Yes it’s as bad as that. Maybe even worse than I think. Goodnight, princess. See you tomorrow bright and early.” 

“Goodnight Fran.” When he is gone Lialie flops onto her bed and sighs. “Oh, well.“
